Olympique Lyonnais

Olympique Lyonnais is one of French football’s most historic, successful, and globally prominent institutions, based in Lyon, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes. Universally known as "OL" or "Les Gones" (The Kids), the club competes in Ligue 1 and plays its home matches at the state-of-the-art 59,186-capacity Groupama Stadium (Parc OL) in Décines-Charpieu.

Founded in 1950, Lyon traditionally plays in white kits featuring blue and red horizontal trim. Under the transformative stewardship of long-time president Jean-Michel Aulas, Lyon dominated French football in the 2000s, achieving an unprecedented French record of winning 7 consecutive Ligue 1 titles between 2002 and 2008.

Renowned for its world-class youth academy (L'OL Academy)—which produced international superstars including Karim Benzema, Juninho Pernambucano, Alexandre Lacazette, and Michael Essien—Lyon has also built an impressive European footprint, reaching the UEFA Champions League semi-finals twice (2010, 2020) and the UEFA Europa League semi-finals in 2017.

Olympique Lyonnais contests French football’s most heated, historic, and passionate regional derby against AS Saint-Étienne, a world-famous fixture known across the country as the Rhône Derby (Choc des Olympiques / Derby Rhône-Alpes).
